This is a commercial photo of the scenic Hotel Hofgut Sternen located immediately adjacent to the souvenir shop.
Steve (obviously) is not feeling his best as he tries to get interested in looking at a huge selection of genuine German cuckoo clocks costing a mere arm and leg.
This shop did have a very nice selection of German dolls...
...beer and ale steins...
...teddy bears and...
...even a huge STUFFED COW (which was not supposed to be touched!)
We next drove through the Black Forest [SEE MAP] to Schaffhausen on the Swiss border and stopped to see the RHINE FALLS.
While the falls were impressive, the overcast skies and haze made it difficult to get a photo which really depicted the beauty of the scene.
This is a commercial photo of a cable car reaching the summit of Mount Pilatus in LUCERNE [SEE MAP], Switzerland where one supposedly has incredibly spectacular alpine views.
This was the view Lena had when she took the cable car on a rainy, overcast day when we visited Lucerne! Sigh....the RAINY WEATHER continued to plague our tour.
This is another commercial photo of Lucerne and its famous Lake Lucerne.
And, the scene as viewed and photographed by Lena.
Again, a commercial shot of Lucerne with its lake and alpine mountains...
...and a shot from a slightly different angle as seen by Lena.
Lena saw this figure holding a Swiss flag during her travels around Lucerne and just could not resist getting the shot.
This was an interesting statue of a woman playing a Swiss musical instrument which was sitting in a very beautiful garden area.
Steve continued to suffer from the flu and fever while in Lucerne, but tried on this Swiss "Alpine Hat" for the photo.
On our way from Lucerne to Innsbruck, we stopped briefly for refreshments in LIECHTENSTEIN in order to be able to say we had 'seen that country.'
INNSBRUCK, Austria [SEE MAP], where they twice held the Winter Olympics, is a very colorful and beautiful city. The sun...
...broke through the clouds and enabled Lena to get some decent photos of the city.
Innsbruck is surrounded by the premier eight ski areas of the Olympic Ski World and one does not have to look far in the city to see the towering mountains which are famous for their winter skiing.
This monumental arch makes for an interesting challenge to vehicular traffic.
While Steve stayed in the hotel and fought the flu, Lena took a tour of a CRYSTAL store that sells their products throughout Europe.
She then visited another store selling crystal Christmas ornaments and decorations in the middle of summer!
She then took the tour up the mountains to see the SKI JUMP which was used twice when Innsbruck hosted the Winter Olympics. This is the view (without snow!) from the bottom of the ski ramp where the jumpers land...
...and this is the breath-taking view the jumper sees and he contemplates hurling himself down the slope off into space. The spectators' stand is in the background.
And, this is the city of Innsbruck as seen from the top of the ski jump.
After visiting the ski jump area, Lena then took a horse and carriage ride through the mountains to visit a typical mountain village.
She appears to be happy to finally get back to the hotel and be able to relax after a day of sight-seeing.
From Innsbruck, Austria, we then traveled back through Germany to see SALZBURG [SEE MAP], Austria which is MOZART's birthplace as well as the city featured in 'THE SOUND OF MUSIC.'
